The Void

Vast

Empty yet

Full

Of power 

 

It draws me in 

Immediately

Painlessly 

Stripping away

All

That I am

 

The truth 

Of the ego’s 

Limited worldview 

Is revealed

 

All that remains 

Is unknowable 

Presence

Beyond human 

Conception

 

There are 

No thoughts there

No feelings there 

Only the greater 

Is

That exists outside

All knowing

 

Coming back

From there

I am changed

My ego is quieter

My emotions placid 

I am more humble

Yet

More wise

To my own human 

Failings and trappings

More aware

Of the nature of existence 

 

Each time I visit 

This sacred place 

I come back

Freer and more quiet 

My ego leaving fewer

Footsteps behind 

My higher self 

In charge 

Allowing me

To live 

A more authentic life
